I found this article of FOXNews.com... I think Mel Gibson is really a big hypocrite if you ask me. And the problem is, I still like his older movies and he used to be one of my favorite actors. But ever since he did The Passion of the Christ (very good movie btw) he became all... weird.

 The article:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mel Gibson Distanced Himself From Heath Ledger After 'Brokeback Mountain'

Though Mel Gibson expressed his sorrow this week over the death of Heath Ledger, he had actually distanced himself from the younger Australian actor in the years since Ledger played a gay cowboy in "Brokeback Mountain," according to the New York Daily News.

Ledger chose not to follow Gibson's advice against taking the "Brokeback" leading role of Ennis Del Mar, a ranch hand who falls in love with another male cowboy and all the while struggles with his homosexuality, private investigator Paul Barresi told the News.

As a result, Gibson pulled back from the friendship with Ledger, whom he'd gotten to know when Ledger played his son in "The Patriot."

Barresi said a "major Hollywood producer" told him that Ledger asked Gibson whether he should play the part of Ennis, and "Gibson strongly counseled against it. The role apparently ran counter to Gibson's morality. And he felt that it would ruin Heath's career," the News reported.

But Ledger ignored the suggestion and signed on to do the film anyway, leading to a rift with Gibson, according to the News.

"When Gibson parted ways with Heath, it broke his heart," Barresi told the paper.

In the end, Ledger's performance in "Brokeback" won him critical accolades, an Oscar nomination and newfound respect as a serious, talented and complex actor, allowing him to shed his image as just another Hollywood heartthrob.

In 2006, Ledger told London's Evening Standard that his decision to play Ennis "was kind of a reaction against the comparison that I'm the new Mel Gibson."

On Tuesday, Gibson issued a statement calling Ledger's death "a tragic loss."

“I had such great hope for him. He was just taking off and to lose his life at such a young age is a tragic loss," he said. "My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

And if you think about it, Gibson was distancing because he stands against homosexuality as a hardcore Christian (he is considered to be the biggest Christian activist in Hollywood) and because it is a sin and wrong in the Bible. However, Gibson himself played in various movies throughout his career that portrayed other sins as well.. such as the movie Payback where he was a man bent on revenge who did nothing but go on a killing spree for the entire movie because he was screwed over by an ex-con partner of his. He was seen killing, drinking, and having "sex" in many of his movies, and yet he found it right to distance himself because of a movie about homosexuality? Dude that pisses me off.

Please share your thoughts on this with me...

Homophobia is Gay [Dec. 25th, 2007|04:22 pm]

[music |Paralyzer - Finger Eleven]

I am the girl kicked out of her home because I confided in my mother that I am a lesbian.

I am the prostitute working the streets because nobody will hire a transsexual woman.

I am the sister who holds her gay brother tight through the painful, tear-filled nights.

We are the parents who buried our daughter long before her time.

I am the man who died alone in the hospital because they would not let my partner of twenty-seven years into the room.

I am the foster child who wakes up with nightmares of being taken away from the two fathers who are the only loving family I have ever had. I wish they could adopt me.

I am one of the lucky ones, I guess. I survived the attack that left me in a coma for three weeks, and in another year I will probably be able to walk again.

I am not one of the lucky ones. I killed myself just weeks before graduating high school. It was simply too much to bear.

We are the couple who had the realtor hang up on us when she found out we wanted to rent a one-bedroom for two men.

I am the person who never knows which bathroom I should use if I want to avoid getting the management called on me.

I am the mother who is not allowed to even visit the children I bore, nursed, and raised. The court says I am an unfit mother because I now live with another woman.

I am the domestic-violence survivor who found the support system grow suddenly cold and distant when they found out my abusive partner is also a woman.

I am the domestic-violence survivor who has no support system to turn to because I am male.

I am the father who has never hugged his son because I grew up afraid to show affection to other men.

I am the home-economics teacher who always wanted to teach gym until someone told me that only lesbians do that.

I am the woman who died when the EMTs stopped treating me as soon as they realized I was transsexual.

I am the person who feels guilty because I think I could be a much better person if I didn't have to always deal with society hating me.

I am the man who stopped attending church, not because I don't believe, but because they closed their doors to my kind.

I am the person everyone thinks is confused because I am attracted to men and women.

I am a warrior for my country serving proud, but can't be my true self because gays aren't allowed in the military.

I am the person ashamed to tell my own friends I'm a lesbian, because they constantly make fun of them.

I am the boy tied to a fence, beaten to a bloody pulp and left to die because two straight men wanted to "teach me a lesson."

I am the person who has to hide what this world needs most, love.

Repost this if you believe homophobia is wrong.

I'm signing and sending the form found at the site below... all it takes is a couple of minutes of your time. It's a form to send to a representative to get them to push for laws against hate crimes.

All I'm asking y'all to do is at least go to the site, look at it and consider it. I'd really appreciate it if you would sign it as well, but your thought and consideration is appreciated too. Thanks.

"Show the world that love can conquer hate by making sure that Congress passes comprehensive hate crimes legislation this session. Fill out the form found at the website listed below to tell your Representative to become an original cosponsor of the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act that will be introduced in the House. The more cosponsors the bill has, the better the chance of passing this landmark legislation and putting an end to hate crimes in America."

I liked the quote I used in my title, so I thought I'd share it ^^.

Anyway, this afternoon I went out to eat with Josh; he's a good friend. It was really nice because I don't get to see him much anymore since I graduated (he's now a senior in HS). Around 1:45 he came over and picked me up in his brand new (awesome) truck and we went to Firehouse Subs to eat. Yum. We were there for about 30-45 minutes eating and talking, catching up on what's going on in eachother's lives and such. He really is a true friend, and a sweet guy.

--------------------------------------------

Let's see.. oh yes. Yesterday, I received an IM from a friend whom I hadn't talked to in like six months. It was good to hear from her and find out that she's working at the H.E.B. near my house and that she's going to college now: I'm proud of her. (She ended up getting her GED I believe)

Right now, I'm talking to a friend who graduated in my class, and I haven't talked to her since like.. late July/early August, so that's pretty cool as well. She too has started college. Yay, it's good to talk to friends ^^.

---------------------------------------------

I just wanted to update and say that my dad talked to the guy about my job, and the guy still doesn't know what the firetruck is going on so ergo, I don't know what's going on. I should have the job, but I don't know when I'll be starting. Argh, frustration!

---------------------------------------------

I'm soo relieved right now.. I was about to post this when my Internet froze on me. I had to sign off and sign back on, and I was pissed because I thought I'd lost my entire post.. I signed back online and got on LJ, and clicked 'Post'... and it had kept this for me! ::Hugs LJ.::

Your Observation Skills Get A B-

Your senses are pretty sharp (okay, most of the time)
And it takes something big to distract you!

-------------------------------------------------

I am actually quite observant, contrary to what most of my friends know or think. I'm just.. observant of things that don't matter, the things that matter totally go unregistered in my mind. Oops.

KINYIN: The family page in the yearbook came out GREAT, good work :).

Wise Words [Oct. 1st, 2006|04:58 pm]

[music |Don't Want to Miss a Thing - Aerosmith]

A wise person once said that sometimes you need to live for yourself rather than trying to live for others to please them. If you're living just to please others and to meet their standards and approval, you may never truly be happy. And say you do live the way you're expected to.. the ones you're living for may die the next day, and then you're life in a situation that's wrong for everyone involved.
(granted, it was worded better than the way I worded it)

I've never heard such wisdom come from someone under the age of like.. 35 or 40, it really amazed me and I just wanted to mention it because I think it's something that everybody should live by.. or at least know of. It's very insightful.

----------------------------------------

Yesterday was nnaattzz party.. woot city. It was pretty fun even though people didn't show up until like an hour or so after it was intended to start.. Ducky, nnaattzz and I had fun playing truth or dare (SPIN THE BOTTLE! XD) and cooking queso and talking about Big Brother and such.

It was great until everyone except the underaged people (*cough, cough* us) became totally inebriated and got loud and obnoxious.

----------------------------------------

Anyway, I went to bed at 3:00am.. and got up at 10:30am... and then I spent about 2 1/2 - 3hrs outside in the sun today.. so I'm extremely tired at the moment and am gonna end this.

Much love,

The Squirrel

I haven't checked Ducky's journal, but I don't believe that she managed to get online yesterday to update her LJ/comment people. Before she can think to ask me to do so, I'm going to apologize for her and let you all know that she should be on some point this week to update and such.

I think I just became her personal secretary. ::ponders::

-----------------------------------------

Well, I just added a friend to my friend's list. I got her username right before she left Twin's surprise party on Friday.. well, I think by the time she left it was +technically+ Saturday. She was in my Creative Writing/Film class.. and it was hilarious because our teacher (GRR!) called like four or five of us in the creative writing part of the class her "Freakos" because our writing was morbid or incestual or something of that nature XD. The day one of us gets published/famous and she finds out.. man will that be beautiful; it'd be priceless to see her face. Gosh, to go back to junior year, that would be the best mhm; I miss that year.

------------------------------------------

Anyway, I wanted to thank everyone who wished me a happy birthday; I want to thank you KINYIN for inviting me to Twin's party, it was a lot of fun. I also wanted to thank those who participated in surprising me on my birthday. Not only do I want to thank you for throwing me the first surprise party I've ever had, but I want to thank you for the awesome presents that you gave me; you have no idea how special I felt that day and how special I will always feel because of y'all.. I love you guys.

I have an important message from DUCKY.

She wants all of you to know that she's sorry that she hasn't been on LJ in awhile; school and work have been keeping her extremely busy. She said that she will more than likely be on LJ on Sunday (the 24th) to check out her journal, to update it and reply to everyone who has commented her recently. She apologizes and wants you all to know that she loves you and misses you.

---------------------------------

That said, I have nothing of my own to say (lol) so please read the post BELOW this one, the one about favorites. Feel free to steal, thief, borrow, pilfer (etc) the survey and make it your own; also, feel free to comment your little hearts out.
